Until recently I would say I was relatively clueless about search engine optimization. I still don’t know it all and am in no way claiming to. These are just some of the steps I have taken to increase my SEO…
Format your posts
Format your posts to include the title and date. This will help search engines to be able to find your posts easier and more in tune to what your post is about. You can do this by [Wordpress only] selecting settings in your admin panel and then selecting permalinks. Choose the day and name option. [Picture Below]

Install Google Sitemap
Install Google Sitemap plugin for Wordpress. It will automatically ping or let Google, Ask, Yahoo, and MSN know that you have updated your blog. Here’s the one I used.
Use tags
Use tags and or Technorati tags. You can display the tags below each post by inserting this code in your page. ![]()
There are a few Technorati tag plugins out there. Here is one that I know of. I haven’t personally used it on any of the SizzlingSkillet sites, but it looks promising. One more. Again, Worpress only.

Biological pigments in living organisms are used to capture energy from photons, that then go on to perform a specific task.
Chlorophyll, Retinal, and Melanin all absorb certain wavelengths of light and are produced in biosynthetic pathways.
Chlorophyll is found in plant cells and is used to absorb photons that creates energy and drives photosynthesis. Retinal is found in the eye and is used in visual photoreception. Melanin is found in skin, hair, and eye color; it absorbs ultraviolet radiation to protect DNA.

What is the difference between a carbohydrate and a monosachride?
A carbohydrate is a type of polymer and a monosachride is a type of monomer.
How do biological polymers form?
Biological polymers form by “Dehydration Reaction”. The monomer loses two hydrogen molecules and pairs up with an oxygen to make H2O.

Compare and contrast carbohydrates and lipids.
The both contain hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon and both are polymers. In contrast, carbohydrates are hydrophonic and lipids are hydrophobic.
How do DNA and RNA differ?
DNA has two hydroxyls and RNA has one.
A branched Vs. unbranched carbon chain. How would you tell them apart?
A branched carbon chain would have a carbon and two more carbons branching off from the carbon. An unbranched chain would be a linear chain of carbons.
What are the four biological macromolecules?
Carbohydrates, Proteins, Nucleic Acids, and Lipids

Protein folding sequence:

Primary Sequence- A linear protein structure that is held together by hydrophobic bonds and is main sequence.
Secondary Structure- Forms spontaneously between backbone units if the side chain doesn’t block it. Two shapes are formed..alpha helix and beta pleated sheet.
Tertiary Structure- Forms spontaneously between side chain and can be hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, hydrophobic interactions, and disulfide bridges.
Quaternary Structure- All of the polypeptide chains interact together to form a functional protein.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome affects the collagen gene and prevents the collagen coils from interacting properly. The typical symptoms can range from mild to severe. Mild symptoms would be unexplained abdominal pain, joint hyperactivity, bruising easily, and blood vessels showing through thin skin. Severe would be mitral valve prolapse leading to death. There are no treatments available; therefore, the prognosis for mild variant is survival with behavioral modification and death for severe variant.
Sickle-Cell Anemia
Sickle-Cell Anemia affects the hemoglobin protein and is cause when a substitute of an amino acid in hemoglobin is present. Symptoms include pain in the extremities and/ or organ failure. There are drugs that help treat Sickle-Cell but there is no cure. The prognosis is survival with risk reducing factors but in severe cases death can arise from organ failure.

The cell: Parts and Definition #1
Plasma Membrane: A hydrophobic domain that is made up of a phospholipid bilayer. It keeps the outside out and inside in.
Cytoplasm: An isotonic solution in which house all organelle inside a cell.
Genome: All genetic material specific to that cell.
Ribosomes: Made up of RNA and protein that read mRNA which translate proteins based on that information.
Cytoskeleton- Specific proteins that make cell shape, structure, and extensions.
